Anna Bateman

Soprano Anna Bateman is noted as much for her stage presence as for her musicality — a performer who brings warmth and grace to every role she plays and every room she sings in. The recipient of numerous awards, she has studied and performed across Canada, the United States and Europe.

As a soloist, Anna has appeared at many of Toronto's most distinguished venues. She sang for an audience of more than a thousand at Casa Loma's Symphony in the Garden under the baton of Maestro Kerry Stratton, and has performed with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, ChoralWorks Collingwood and the Toronto Choral Society. She was a guest artist in Soulpepper Theatre's sold-out New York Cabaret Series with musical director Mike Ross.

On the opera stage, Anna has sung more than twenty roles in fully staged productions, among them Hannah Glawari in The Merry Widow, Adele in Die Fledermaus — to critical acclaim from Opera Canada — Despina in Così fan tutte, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos and Amy in Little Women.

She is equally at home in the concert repertoire, with performances of Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Fauré's Requiem in D minor, Vivaldi's Gloria, Respighi's Lauda per la Natività del Signore, and Orff's Carmina Burana, where her fluid, soaring high notes have drawn particular praise.

Anna writes and records original music, bringing a classically trained voice to contemporary songwriting. She released her single Stars Remember in December 2025 — a song for anyone ready to step back into their own light. She is currently recording, with further singles to follow.
